Time

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 19, Tuesday

Time

The last day of March 2015, wow already.
Seems like it was just New Year's.
That's how fast 90 days goes. Blink.

Sitting at day 19, day 90 seems so far away, but time passes.

Before we know it summer will be here and then another year passes.

What seems so far away, like a planned vacation, soon comes and goes.

And we wonder, where did all the time go?

"Who forces time is pushed back by time; who yields to time finds time on his side ." - Talmud

What are you making time for?

Monday 30 March 2015

Change - Baby Steps

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 18, Monday

Change - Baby Steps

Call it what you want -
dissatisfaction, unhappiness, annoyance,
irritation, anger, discontent,
they all point in the same direction.

Something needs to change.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again
and expecting different results.
Albert Einstein

I make the mistake often,
for trying to change too much at once.

I set myself up for failure.

The task becomes daunting and I get overwhelmed.

New strategy - Baby Steps.

One Small change a week.
One Medium change a month.
One Large change a year.

Yes, it's time to do something Different.

Would you like anything in your life
to be different that it currently is?

Sunday 29 March 2015

Day 17 of 90

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 17, Sunday

Day off

Saturday 28 March 2015

Nature's Gifts

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 16, Saturday

Nature's Gifts

I love a beautiful drive.

The TransCanada Highway
from Calgary to Banff
has the Majestic Mountain Views.

Due to the mountain views,
the emotion in the sky
and stopping to watch the swans,
the drive alone was worth the trip.

Soaking in the Hot Springs,
a mini hike at Bow Falls
and playing in sand,
definite bonuses.

There is a very connected feeling
I experience when my hands or feet
are on the earth.

In town we found ice cream and
visited the candy store.

These were special adds.

Have you tried the
dark chocolate cashew bear claws
or the licorice?

Spending a day in nature's gifts
is so peaceful and energizing.

What is your favourite Nature's Gift?

Friday 27 March 2015

Play Day

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 15, Friday

Play Day

The lost Art of Leisure.

By definition - Leisure includes free time.

I don't believe in free time.

Your time has value and thus it is never free.

On that note Leisure is time for you.

Time to spend away from business, work (including house, garage, yard work)
and education.

For my friends that love to read, this means you are reading Fiction.

Now, I don't spend a lot of my time in leisure.

I say this because much of what I do has dual purpose.

When I read I like to read business books.

My work and play over lap - a lot and I really like to learn.

I learn in every experience.

Big lesson earlier in the week about "Being Misunderstood"
came from a business conversation
that took place while cooking dinner for my family.

How much Leisure time do you make available for yourself?

Thursday 26 March 2015

Budget Day in Alberta

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 14, Thursday

Budget Day in Alberta.

What will be the impact to our lives?

Taxes, Taxes, Taxes

Individual filing in Canada are due on or before April 30, 2014

I've been doing paper work.

I like to get all my things to my accountant early.

I don't do my own taxes anymore.

It's not where I excel, it weighs heavy on me,
and I will find all sorts of other things to do.

Since I procrastinate in this area, it gets done when I give it to someone else to do.

I don't like having to pay taxes, but I like making money.

I also like healthcare, social resources  and education.

I also like that there are deductions I can take advantage of.

These change all the time another reason I have an accountant.

It's up to them to stay up to date on the new things in their field.

Are you ready to file your taxes?

How does the new Budget impact you?

Wednesday 25 March 2015

A Day for Play - derailed.

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 13, Wednesday

A Day for Play - derailed.

I had planned a play day.
Seems the plan has changed to a Sick Day.

Listening to my body.

Really there is no choice.
My hose, ears and throat are speaking louder than anything else.

They feel like they belong to someone else.

If I had planned a sick day, along with a play day
than I might have time for this.

It's going to take the time
no matter what my plan was.

Off to soak in a tub
with a hot lemon, garlic and cayenne.

Note to self plan sick days and play days,
preferably at different ends of the month.

Tuesday 24 March 2015

Psyche Yourself Up

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 12, Tuesday

Who am I and where am I going with my life?

Enjoy discovering who you are and your clear purpose.

Psyche Yourself Up
and
Do something everyday that makes you feel good.

Be your own cheerleader.

Value yourself.

Try something new.

Reassessing skills and interests can be very empowering.

What are the skills you have and how can you use them in new ways?
Previous jobs and hobbies....

Listening, adapting to others, organizing, promoting, quick thinking....

Sometimes we are so in our own situation that we don't see our own strengths and skills.

Ask friends and family.

Being self-employed may be the right fit for you.

Many skills are transferable.

Monday 23 March 2015

Making the Most of the Week

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 11

Making the most of the week, Monday.

The "emotional roller coaster" of being unemployed.

If you have recently been laid off, you know what I refer to.

The key for weathering the process is in handling the up and downs.

Control, Confidence, Connection and Community.

Victims of an economic situation may still go through feelings of
Loss and Frustration.

The greater the connection to your work
the harder the transition maybe.

Looking for a Job is a Job...

Welcome to sales.

You are selling yourself.

What might be missing....

Money, People, Purpose, and Routine.

Money might be tight and you are possibly socializing differently.

It really helped me to visit with people last week.

Saturday, I was at a volunteer meeting.

I left feeling like I can contribute greatly there,
which will help me with my sense of purpose.

This week it's about getting back into a routine.

It's the structure and order we can miss the most.
A new routine is like an anchor.

Back to making the most out of the week.

Sunday 22 March 2015

Preparation

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 10

Get ready for the week - Sunday.

The focus for the week
is
Follow-up and follow through.

Getting ready for the week,
is also about
meal planning, laundry, events and
keeping a eye on
what the next couple weeks will look like.

There are a few things that need to be accomplished,
in this week,
to make the most out of March
and earlier April.

Easter is coming!

Need an Easter dish recipe?

"Before anything else preparation is the key to success."
Alexander Graham Bell

Apparently I like this quote,
seems I've shared it before.

Saturday 21 March 2015

I keep forgetting

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 9

I keep forgetting to post.

Today will be Day 9 of 90 - 10% of the way there.

This morning there is ice everywhere and it is foggy.

Had a great night's sleep.
Having odd dreams.
At least I am remembering them.
I friend of mine was pregnant.
Knew it was a dream, as that friend is so done having children.

Exercises are done and breakfast is on it's way.

It's a "do want you want day"
Til 1pm.

We have a volunteer meeting today.

Happy Saturday!

Friday 20 March 2015

Spring

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 8

The first day of Spring.

Hahahaha

Snow, rain, fog.
Things are not always as they seem.

The weather might be confusing but
I had a wonderful week of visits.

I love one on one, face to face connection.

Body Language, tone and facial expressions
are not part of social media online engagement.

Virtual Hugs are not at all the same are the Real Skin to Skin ones.

Spring is like that,
people are out and about,
enjoying the weather.

Getting out and visiting with someone
can feel like Spring.

Thursday 19 March 2015

Building a Plan

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 7

"Before anything else preparation is the key to success." Alexander Graham Bell

I've been collecting feedback for the last month and a half.

It's time to take that feedback and put it to some use.

Building a Plan.

Wednesday 18 March 2015

Synergy

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 6

I read the definition of Synergy.

One of the things I seem to come by naturally is noticing possible synergies, even being them.

In every interaction, a desire to add value and create greater.

Leave this world a little better than you found it.
Robert Baden-Powell

How about leaving every interaction a little better?

Both parties better off, for having met, than before they knew each other.

Often I have solutions to leverage time, energy and information.

That makes me a Synergy.

Tuesday 17 March 2015

RadioShow?

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 5

On Day 1 I mentioned the possibility of starting a radio show.

I have to do my homework.

Create a format, figure out how the system works and identify the audience.

I'm attending a lunch event today,
so much of the day is spoken for.

I have a database integration to complete,
website revisions to consider
and Spring Break is next week, already.

What is your week like?

Oh yeah, Happy Saint Patrick's Day.

Monday 16 March 2015

Games Teach

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 4

I may have to start all over with this 90 days of posting.

Over the weekend, I forgot to press the publish button.

Great thing is - there's an edit button for the date. :)

Today is Monday.
It snowed a lot overnight.

I was really liking the spring weather, so the snow, triggered a grumpy in me.

I'm also experiencing some frustration that I'm working through.

Last night I played a great game of Yahtzee.

It had been so long since I played, that I needed to look up some of the rules.

What is a Full House??

That was the Party Saturday night, hahaha.

Wait - in Yahtzee it's 3 of a kind and 2 of a kind.

I found a few things the game teaches,
Math
Active Listening
Paying Attention
Sharing
Strategy

There's 35 points to be missed out on,
if you forget to use strategy, with the top section.
However, if you get a Yahtzee,
that strategy seems less meaningful.

If you have played Yahtzee, you know what I'm talking about.

If you have not played Yahtzee,
it's a must try - at least once.

Reminder to self: Press Publish

Great Conversations

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 3

Wasn't that a Party.... Irish Rovers

It was the wine.

Lots and Lots of wine.

The first time I recall having toilet paper on my head.
Oh yes this was on purpose.

So today was slow.
A couple items on the to do list....

1. Go get my car. Hahahaha!
2. Coffee with a friend.
3. Car full of items to Goodwill - drop off.

I love meaningful conversations.

There is no substitute for human connection.

I strive to have as many face to face engagements
as possible per year.

I like to learn things,
even if what I'm learning happens to be about me.

Today I learned a thing or two,
based on the perspective of a friend.

I'm grateful that the open, honest conversation was possible,
so that the information I needed to hear,
could be shared and received.

There is information everywhere, however, it's not always
in a form that everyone understoods.

How many great conversations do you have a year?

Saturday 14 March 2015

Surprise

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 2

Today will be very full.

There's gonna be a Surprise Party.

If you have ever planned an event or a surprise party for someone,
you know the details and time it can take.

You also know that one thing can bust it all.

There are people that like to be surprised and those that don't.

Sometimes you don't find out about the dislike, until it's too late.
BUST

Someone leaks the Surprise.
BUST

You plan an event and have relied on other people,
and they do not follow through.
BUST

Attendance, this is a big one.
Everything can be in place,
but if no shows up,
BUST!

Either way, it is an Event.

Lucky for me - this one ROCKED!!

Friday 13 March 2015

Looking Back

Let's see what the next 90 days brings.

Day 1

Today I downloaded and went through my old tweets.

Having a look back over the last few years was very enlightening.

I've been online for a long time and much has changed in that time.
Many of the links I had shared, no longer work.
A January 2011 tweet link did work and it took me to BlogTalkRadio.

Time to create a Radio show?
